Cofounder and President Dorrit Lowsen of Change Finance Selected as Finalist in Diversity In ClimateTech Program

September 23, 2021 - Alexandria, VA - Dorrit Lowsen, co-founder and president of Change Finance has been selected as one of five finalists in a new Diversity In ClimateTech program for underrepresented founders tackling our world’s most pressing climate crisis. 

Diversity In ClimateTech is powered by Chloe Capital and Cornell University, and supported by the NYS Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) to recruit, educate, inspire and support the growth of companies led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and women founders on the forefront of clean energy innovations. 

Change Finance builds performance-oriented investment products that seek to promote a more just and sustainable world. The founding team believes that investing for good can profit people, planet, and investors, and that idea permeates our culture from the rigorous, rules-based methodology that underpins our investment products to the intentionality we bring to our shareholder advocacy.

Dorrit Lowsen is a co-founder and President of Change Finance. Shehas more than 20 years of professional experience across a range of industries including IT, environment, and finance, and a range of modalities including Fortune 500, startup, government, and non-profit. Prior to joining Change Finance, Lowsen produced award-winning work on energy and environmental policy in the U.S. Embassy in Beijing during the preparation for the Paris Climate Agreement and served as COO at Agora Partnerships where she oversaw development of the first accelerator program to channel investment capital to impact-driven companies in Latin America. 

“I aligned my personal investment portfolio with the Change Finance philosophy,'' said Lowsen, who was a client of her Change Finance co-founders at their former investment firm, and before joining the team, Dorrit was their first angel investor. “Change Finance builds performance-oriented investment products that seek to promote a more just and sustainable world and their impact-driven, performance-focused strategies are designed to do just that,” she added. 

Diversity In ClimateTech is designed to support the capitalization efforts of diverse entrepreneurs. Finalists for this program were selected from over 300 applicants from around the world. Only five applicants were selected to participate in the program. At least one founder will receive a Chloe Capital investment of up to $250,000. 

The other founders selected for the program include: Lisa Altieri, Founder & CEO, BrightAction, Palo Alto, CA; Madison Savilow, Founder, Expedition Air, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Martha Montoya, Founder & CEO, Agtools Inc., Irvine, CA; and SaLisa Berri Founder & CEO, COI Energy, Tampa, FL / Binghamton, NY / Brooklyn, NY.

“Each of these women will now travel from across the country to join Chloe Capital, and our partners at Cornell University and NYSERDA for a 48-hour fundraising experience,” said Myneco Ramirez, Chloe Capital’s Chief Experience Officer. In addition to Chloe Capital making an investment in at least one high-growth, women-led climate tech company, the program will open the door to the firm’s global network of investors, corporate clients and non dilutive capital.”

Each will be on hand to explore investments. GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter and Native American, Joanne Shenandoah, will also share a special musical performance, and New York Times best-selling author, journalist, and women's-advocacy leader Gretchen Carlson will share more about Lift Our Voices, a non-profit she co-founded with a mission to expose the struggles of female harassment victims.
